“Huh,” Hanson said. “I guess that’s it.”
We all looked at the pieces on the board in disbelief. Nothing seemed all that different from how the pieces were arranged at the start of the game, four hours ago.
In the same motion, Hanson stood and swept the board and pieces into the box.
“Where do you find these people?” Marie asked.
Jeremy shrugged. “I’ll get some glasses.”
“Right!” Natalie said. “Come outside! Jason and I have the champagne set up.”
So the three of us hustled out onto the porch, accepted our glasses and spread out across the yard.
